    Nature Connection

We spend loads of time in nature and we have a lot of fun doing it! Our site in the Hermitage of Braid Nature Reserve is really special to us. We want to go back time and time again.

It is like an old friend who has lots of delicious biscuits. We care for it, and always leave it better than we find it.

    Self-Esteem and Self-Confidence

Outdoor skills like wood carving, fire building, wild cooking and foraging help us to feel confident and good about ourselves.

Forest School is a safe place to try new things and embrace challenges. We’re perseverant, resilient and independent. Who doesn’t feel chuffed with themselves when they’ve built their own fire?

    Encouraging Kindness

We encourage kindness to all life by following our 3 rules of Forest School:

    ✓ Look after yourself

    ✓ Look after others

    ✓ Look after the environment

“If we look after the natural world, the natural world will look after us”
Sir David Attenborough

A Bit About Us

  • Forest School Lead - Lucy profile picture

    Lucy

Lucy is a qualified Forest School leader who has been running her own group since April 2019. Spending time in the woods together has been an inspiring process and so, so much fun. She can’t wait to share the experience with more children. She is currently spending too much time checking out her nestbox camera.

    Ian

Ian is an ecologist who has worked with people of all ages but especially likes sharing nature with children and families. His passions are forest craft and foraging, and he enjoys telling a story by the fire. When he is not carving a whistle or a spoon in the woods he is probably paddling his hand-built canoe on a loch.
