Nature Connection
We spend loads of time outdoors — and have a lot of fun doing it! Our site in the Hermitage of Braid Nature Reserve is really special to us. It’s a place we return to again and again.
It’s like an old friend who always has biscuits to share. We care for it, and always leave it better than we find it.

Self-Esteem and Self-Confidence
Outdoor skills like wood carving, fire building, wild cooking, and foraging help us feel confident and proud of what we can do.
Forest School is a place to try new things, take on challenges, and grow. It’s where we build perseverance, resilience, and independence. Who doesn’t feel chuffed when they’ve built their own fire?

Encouraging Kindness
We encourage kindness to all life by following our 3 rules of Forest School:
✓ Look after yourself
✓ Look after others
✓ Look after the environment

“If we look after the natural world, the natural world will look after us”
Sir David Attenborough
A Bit About Us
-
Lucy
Lucy is a qualified Forest School leader who has been running groups since 2019. She loves spending her days outdoors with curious children, her best friend, and Edinburgh’s answer to David Attenborough.
Favourite time of year? Bird nesting season. -
Leila
Leila has enjoyed working with groups of children and young people for over a decade. She likes to craft. She likes to laugh. She regularly does both together. She is big on kindness, developing a growth mindset, and is interested in everything. She definitely believes in magic.

Ian
Ian is an ecologist who has worked with people of all ages but especially likes sharing nature with children and families. His passions are forest craft and foraging, and he enjoys telling a story by the fire. When he is not carving a whistle or a spoon in the woods he is probably paddling his hand-built canoe on a loch.
